Dundee Gymnasts Face The Challenge
Dundee Gymnasts face the Challenge!!!![]()
Jordan Archibald, Kirsty Campbell and Hannah Kilcullen, three Dundee gymnasts, competed in the British Challenge Cup at Aldershot at the weekend. It’s a prestigious competition with more than 65 entrants from the whole of the UK taking part. The Challenge Cup is a qualifying competition for the British Championships and all three gymnasts from DGC2K were intent on achieving the qualifying score of 44.0. As it turned out they reached their goal - but did even better than that! The girls held their nerve throughout and performed all their routines with ease and perfection. They clearly raised some eyebrows but the real surprise was still to come:
Jordan Archibald won the cup overall with a massive score of 47.4 points and added two silver medals – on vault and on bars – to her tally. Kirsty Campbell also made it onto the podium. She picked up the bronze medal overall with 46.15 points and the gold medal for her floor. Hannah Kilcullen finished in a very respectable 7th place with 44.9 points and, like the other two, achieved qualification.
Other Scottish based gymnasts also made the grade with Megan Slater of Zodiac and Amy Regan of City of Glasgow also finishing in the top 15 and surpassed the qualifying score for the British Championships.
Well Done Girls !!
