Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What qualifications will I get?
A: Our courses are validated by CYQ. Fitness Scotland qualifications provide a VRQ Level 2 or Level 3 certification. The courses are highly sought after by employers as it is created around the industry standards as set by Skills Active.
Q: Is there any equipment or textbooks I will have to buy?
A: No, you will not have to buy any additional materials for any of our courses, everything will be supplied on the first day of the course and any information you need will be provided in the course handbooks.
Q: I have covered physiology,anatomy, metabolism and principles of training before, do I still have to attend an Exercise & Fitness Knowledge (Theory) course?
A: Our theory course is suitable for candidates from all backgrounds. However, if you have already completed these modules in other College/University courses, you maybe eligable for a theory byass. In order to be accepted for the bypass option you will have to present evidence that you have completed these modules in the form College/University certificates. Before moving on to the practical course you will have to have passed the written exam.
Q: How fit do I have to be to attend a course?
A: Our courses are designed for all levels of fitness and as long as you already attend classes and have a moderate level of fitness you will be fine. This is a common concern for people taking on our Level 2 courses however as long as you are technically competent you should be able to pitch any class at the correct level and your fitness will continually improve as your teaching progresses.
Q: Is my course Recognised?
A: Yes, Fitness Scotland is a REPS recognised training provider and the qualifications we provide are all passed by REPS. On completion of our courses you will be able to register with REPS.
Q: Can I pay in instalments and do you have any discounts?
A: Yes we offer a free easy payment scheme and accept credit cards to help you spread the cost of the course.
Q: Am I too old to become a fitness instructor?
A: Absolutely not – there are no age barriers on our courses and we accept students from 16 to 70! So whether you are looking to start your carrer in the Fitness Indusrty or change your current carrer, our courses are for you. Health and Fitness clubs have classes and gym sessions for all ages and the industry needs instructors to cater for their needs.
Q: Why should I choose Fitness Scotland?
A: Fitness Scotland is the National Governing Body for Health and Fitness in Scotland. Fitness Scotland Course Tutors are all Industry professionals and exerts in their individual fields. They are here to help you in every way that they can and are available to support you all the way through your training.
