Dancefest 2009

December 2009 saw the launch of the ever Dancefest festival held in Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Sports Centre. Dancefest was a project lead by Fitness Scotland and supported by Scottish Gymnastics, Edinburgh Leisure and Active Schools Edinburgh.

This event saw the coming together of Dance groups from primary and secondary schools, local community groups, Higher Education Colleges and Professional troupes displaying their talents to a fantastic crowd of parents, friends and family. Rounding off a year’s worth of hard work in rehearsals and training could not have happened in a more fitting finale.
Dance workshops were lead by DANCE FOR ALL before the event kicked off which allowed all participants the opportunity to learn new moves, gaining ideas and experience to drive their performances in 2010. Meadowbank came to a stand sill as DANCE FOR ALL took to the floor captivating opening performance would agree that their dedication and enthusiasm was an inspiration to all.

The biggest thank of all goes out to all the dancers who performed. There was a fascinating display of talent ranging from street, hip hop and break dancing through to ballet and cheerleading.

Following the success of last year’s event, the events team are back in action in preparation for what promises to be an excellent round of to the 2010 Dance performance calendar, Dancefest 2010!
