Regional Sporting Partnerships are now up and operational across the six Scottish Institute regions. The initial partnership approach was piloted in SportTayside & Fife and SportCentral. The success and positive sporting outcomes achieved through these partnerships was the impetus for the implementation of the additional four partnerships now set – up in the East, West, Grampian and Highlands & Islands. Integrated planning with key partners will be essential to ensure measurable outcomes are achieved against local, regional and national aspirations. The philosophy behind the partnerships is to regionalise the development of sport and join up the people, places and thinking that make sport happen.
Scottish Gymnastics recently recruited four Regional Gymnastics Development Managers who will be based within the Regional Sporting Partnerships in the East, West, Tayside & Fife, Central, Grampian and Highlands and Islands. Working from a regional base will ensure that the RGDMs are working closely with all key stakeholders who promote our sport and have the common goal of delivering against the two objectives of National Strategy for sport “Reaching Higher” which is increasing participation and improving performance.
Scottish Gymnastics Regional Gymnastics Development Managers (RGDMs) will have a remit for working with partners to deliver across the following geographical areas:
