Course Information

If you wish to attend any courses, please complete an application form and send to Education Department, Scottish Gymnastics, Airthrey Castle, University of Stirling, Stirling FK9 4LA. Please include the appropriate payment with application form.

Places will not be guaranteed without full payment (or employer invoice details) and an application form.

The structure of UKCC for potential coaches

The UKCC Level 1 structure will be delivered over 3 days normally 9am until 5pm (21 hours), with the first day covering the generic component of the course and the following 2 days, covering all practical delivery.

On completion of the UKCC Level 1 course dates all candidates will be required to complete mentored hours under the guidance of a level 2 Coach or above. It is still the case that the mentor coach should be one level above the candidate. There will then be an exam date, around 3 months after the course.  This allows time for mentoring to take place and for the candidates to complete all the tasks within their logbooks.

UKCC Level 2 will be delivered over 5 days normally 9am until 5pm (35 hours), with days 1 and 5 covering the generic component of the course and the other 3 days, covering all practical delivery. As with the UKCC Level 1, the Level 2 candidates will follow the same mentoring process with a coach who is qualified to at least one level above. Again there will be an exam date around 3 months after the course.

UKCC Level 3 Technical Modules structure varies depending on the Discipline.  Each Module is normally delivered from 10am until 4pm (6hours) and are fully practical courses. On completion of all the UKCC Level 3 Technical Modules all candidates will be required to complete mentored hours under the guidance of a coach who is qualified to at least one level above. There will then be an exam date, around 3 months after the course.

Course Requirements

Assistant courses - Level 1 UKCC
- Applicants must be 16 years of age at the start of the course.

Coach Courses - Level 2 UKCC
- This course is open to those over the age of 17 years only

Technical Modules - Level 3 and above
- This course is open to thoses over the age of 18 years only.
