Theory & Underpinning Knowledge

The Theory and Underpinning Knowledge course is the starting point for those people who are passionate about health and fitness and want to motivate others to take part. 
If you wish to teach and instruct either group exercise classes or gym based exercise this course prepares the ground work by providing you with the underpinning knowledge necessary to develop your expertise. The theory course includes the following: Skeletal System, Muscular System, Circulatory and Nervous Systems and the Principles of Training.

Candidates must complete the theory element of the Level 2 before moving onto their practical courses in Gym Instructor, Exercise to Music and/or Water Based Exercise.

There are a number of ways in which you can work towards completeing your Theory and Underpinning Knowledge course as stated below:
 
1) Course Attendance - £195.00
Candidates attend a 4 day tutored course including interactive sessions and detailed explainations on all required elments. A set examination date will follow on from each course.

2) Distance Learning - £140.00
Candidates recieve the theory resource manual and work from home at their desired pace. They are also allocated a tutor contact who will be available to aid and support where necessary, this tutor will be contactable via email and telephone. When the candidate is ready to sit their assessment they should contact the office and an exam will be arranged. We strongly recommend that this option mainly suits candidates who have prior experience in self study and or those who have studied related subjects in the past.

3) Theory Bypass - £45.00
This allows candidates to bypass the theory course and go straight to assessment. This option is only available to those candidates who have studies all topics in previous qualification. Candidates will be required to provide proof of this in the form of qualification certificates and module breakdowns.

What can I do next?
Progress to Level 2 Gym Instructor Course, Level 2 Exercise to Music Course and/or Level 2 Water Based Exercise
 
Theory assessments consist of a written paper with a mixture of question and answers and multiple choice questions. The assessment lasts up to 2hours.
