Award Scheme

The development of the Scottish Gymnastics Award scheme came about as a result of consultation and requests from schools, clubs and local authorities. It was recognised that other awards provided only pictorial support for delivery of gymnastics and no additional guidance or teaching notes.

This Award Scheme, introduced by Scottish Gymnastics in 2004, was designed to also be a teaching aid.On one side of the cards is a picture of what each skill should look like and on the reverse, teaching points and hints on how to correct common faults. Thus the children and teachers can clearly see what the skills should look like, and the staff are given clear instructions on how to teach each skill.
