Equity

Message from SGA President

SGA fundamentally believes that unlawful discrimination is unacceptable.  SGA will endeavour through our polices, procedures, actions and decision making, ensure that no employee, member or volunteer receives less favourable treatment or is discriminated against on the grounds of race, disability, gender, religious or political belief, sexual orientation, age, social background, marital status or pregnancy.

We believe the principles of equity should be integral to every aspect of our sport; development, delivery, decision-making, and everyone working in gymnastics whether in a paid or voluntary capacity should give due regard to equity as a matter of course.

Success in Quest for Sports Equity

Following almost a year of dedicated work in the field of sports equity, sportscotland, the national agency for sport in Scotland, is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Foundation level of the Equity Standard: A Framework for Sport.

Joining sportscotland in this achievement is Scottish Gymnastics. The award is recognition of the commitment of the organisation to sports equity, and to providing equality of access and opportunities to take part in sport at all levels for all groups in Scottish society.

Julia Bracewell OBE, past Chair of sportscotland, said: "Our congratulations go to Scottish Gymnastics for being among the first sporting governing bodies in Scotland to achieve the Foundation level of the Equity Standard.  sportscotland and the successful governing bodies of sport will now begin to work towards the Preliminary level of the Standard”.
