Drug Abuse

Scottish Gymnastics confirm their support for a drug free sport and have adopted UK Sport anti Doping Policy, which applies to all participating in the sport of gymnastics and trampolining. Coaches and Officials, as well as Medical and Paramedical personnel working with,or treating gymnasts or trampolinists, who participate or are preparing to participate in the sport, must be aware that:

All members accept that any gymnast age 16 years and over may be subjected to a test for illegal substances within the list of prohibited drugs prepared and published by the IOC.

All gymnasts will abstain from the use of any and all drugs included in the list together with chemically and pharmacologically related compounds.

All gymnasts will abstain from the practice know as “blood doping” and adhere to the SGA Testing Policy as laid down.

A drugs disciplinary committee when required will be appointed by the Board of Directors of the SGA.

Note:

Scottish Gymnastics are presently working with British Gymnastics on updating the Anti Doping Policy to ensure it meets the requirements of the SGA.
