Sport can and does have a very powerful and positive influence on people - especially children and young people. Not only can sport provide opportunities for enjoyment and achievement, it can also help those who participate to develop valuable qualities and skills such as self-esteem, leadership and teamwork.
Scottish Gymnastics aim to ensure all those participating in gymnastics have a safe, fun, and positive experience and are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential in a safe environment.
A key appointment in helping clubs meet the Minimum Operating requirements for Safeguarding, set by Scottish Gymnastics (SG) is that of a Safeguarding Officer (SO).
The SO will help clubs understand their responsibilities in terms of the recruitment of individuals (paid or voluntary) and how Scottish Legislation affects both the club and Scottish Gymnastics.
