Men’s Artistic National Performance Programme (NPP) - Key Information
MAG National Performance Programme
In line with the Scottish Gymnastics strategic plan (2015-2027), we have the long term aim to expand the talent pool and develop Scottish gymnasts to British and World high performance level. The National Performance Programme links firmly into our strategy with the objective of expanding and sustaining the talent pool in Men’s Artistic and developing coaches and gymnasts to British and World high performance levels.
The aim of this programme is to support coaches and gymnasts in developing the skills that will allow them to succeed on the British pathway. Scott Hann MBE will continue to drive this programme for Scottish Gymnastics and provide excellent technical support for both gymnasts and their personal coaches, with integrated support from physical preparation and physiotherapy.
The MAG NPP will have two tiers to the programme with core camps and focus camps. Both tiers of the programme are based on a culture of hard work, continuous improvement, taking ownership and embracing challenge and setbacks, and gymnasts must continue to demonstrate this to remain part of the programme.
Gymnasts who have met the eligibility scores (table 1) will be invited to attend the next appropriate camp on a trial basis where they will be assessed by the National Technical Advisor across the following areas:
• Technical (brilliant basics, skills & combinations in development)
• Physical (physical preparation & conditioning)
• Mindset (training behaviours & attitudes)
• Competition Results (Scottish, English & British Championships, London Open
