Sportscotland Coach Education Subsidy

We are delighted to confirm we have been awarded coach education subsidy by sportscotland for Scottish Gymnastics members attending our coaching courses. 

sportscotland introduced a new application process on 1 September 2022 where national governing bodies apply for subsidy for their sport. Once the sport has been awarded subsidy, learners can apply through their governing body.

The new sportscotland subsidy process is more focussed on addressing challenges around accessibility, affordability, and inclusion within coach education. 

Scottish Gymnastics’ application focussed on reducing the barriers to learning and development opportunities by
•  reducing the cost of accessing and attending courses
•  widening the reach and access to qualifications
•  applying a sustainable approach to planning and delivery

The new approach means the subsidy support during this period is targeted towards individuals from under-represented groups and people with a protected characteristic such as disability, gender, care experienced young people and those from an area of deprivation.

Application Process

Step 1
Check you meet the pre-requisites of subsidy.

1  Booked onto a Scottish Gymnastics course starting between 1 September 2022 and 31 March 2023.
2  Hold a current and correct level of Scottish Gymnastics membership for your course: Level 1 & Gymnastics Activity Instructor is SG & BG Silver membership and Level 2 & 3 is SG & BG Gold membership.
3  Be a member of a Scottish Gymnastics registered club or a coach within a partnered local authority.
4  Have a current PVG accessed through Scottish Gymnastics OR have their PVG in progress accessed through Scottish Gymnastics.
5  Hold a current and correct level of Scottish Gymnastics safeguarding qualification OR have enrolled onto the next upcoming Scottish Gymnastics safeguarding course.
6  All dates of course must be fully attended.

For those who attended a course between the 1 September 2022 and 31 December 2022 the above pre-requisites must have been in place for the duration of the course.

Enrol onto the coaching course

Step 3
Compete the online application form for subsidy.

You must submit your subsidy application and have all pre-requisites in place before day one of the course. If the first day of your course was between the 1 September to 30 December, you must apply for subsidy by 28 February 2023.

Step 4
Scottish Gymnastics checks your subsidy application and sends approval/refusal to the contact email on application form.

Step 5
Approved subsidy will be reimbursed within one month of your application.

If you do not attend all dates of the course, you will be required to pay the sportscotland subsidy back to Scottish Gymnastics.
