June to August Membership: from 1 June to 31 August 2025 the cost of our bronze membership for gymnasts is reduced from £24 to reflect the shorter membership period. All new gymnasts during this period should be registered on My BG as usual.

Gymnast


– Participants taking part at beginner or recreational level
– Participants who compete in some Scottish Gymnastics beginner competitions
– Participants who are not training and competing at events at National Development Pathway level and above delivered by Scottish Gymnastics or affiliated associations.

Preschool Gymnast


Participants who take part in preschool gymnastics activity and are not yet in full-time education by virtue of age (as defined by government legislation)

Helper & Learn to Coach


– Members who are in the gym working with children or acting as chaperone on behalf of a club; or
– Members who hold the learn to coach qualification
Helpers and learn to coach members aged 16 and over must have PVG scheme record through Scottish Gymnastics and valid Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection qualification.

Judge


– Members who hold a current British Gymnastics’ county, club or regional level judging qualification (or an equivalent qualification recognised by British Gymnastics)

It is advised that judges also attend the Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection courses

Club Official


– Officials of Scottish Gymnastics registered clubs who are not involved, in any capacity, in the direct delivery of gymnastics in any recognised environment through the coaching, judging or supervision of participants except for those holding accreditations below Level 1 assistant coach (or Scottish Gymnastics’ recognised equivalent) or accreditations below county judge. Examples of club officials could be but are not limited to, club managers, club administrators, secretaries or other club members requiring access to My BG along with all club committee members.

There is no annual fee for club official membership.
Must be aged 18 years or over.

Safeguarding Officer


– Members carrying out the role of safeguarding officer within a registered Scottish Gymnastics club.

Must be aged 21 years or over. If in a university club, must be at least a second year student or aged 21 years or over.
All safeguarding officer members must have PVG scheme record through Scottish Gymnastics, valid Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection qualification and attend the Scottish Gymnastics safeguarding for club leaders’ workshop.

Competitive Gymnast

– Participants who take part in competitive gymnastics delivered by Scottish Gymnastics and any national or international competitions recognised by Scottish Gymnastics
– Participants training and competing at National Development Pathway level and above delivered by Scottish Gymnastics or affiliated associations.

Assistant Coach

– Members who hold a Level 1 assistant coach qualification (or an equivalent qualification recognised by Scottish Gymnastics)
– Members who are booking onto a Level 1 coaching course and wish to take advantage of the member discount
– Members who hold Gymnastics Activity Instructor award

Assistant coaches must have a PVG scheme record through Scottish Gymnastics and valid Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection qualification.

Coach

– Members who hold a Level 2 Coach qualification or above (or an equivalent qualification recognised by Scottish Gymnastics)
– Members who hold a current Level 1 and are booking onto a Level 2 coaching course and wish to take advantage of the member discount
– Members who are engaged in a contract for services with Scottish Gymnastics in the capacity of tutor or assessor

Coaches must have a PVG scheme record through Scottish Gymnastics and valid Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection qualification

Activity instructor


Members who hold a British Gymnastics Activity Instructor qualification (or an equivalent qualification recognised by Scottish Gymnastics)
Activity instructors must have PVG Scheme Record through Scottish Gymnastics and valid Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection qualification.

National & Brevet Judge

– Members who hold a British Gymnastics recognised judging qualification at national or brevet level

It is advised that judges also attend Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection courses. 

Honorary Life Member

Any person whom the board decides has rendered exceptional or distinguished
services to Scottish Gymnastics

Complimentary Member

Members who are provided with complimentary membership by virtue of being
directly employed by Scottish Gymnastics; or
Members who are engaged by Scottish Gymnastics in specific committee roles that
have a benefit of complimentary membership for a fixed duration as defined by the
board from time to time; or
Such other persons as the board may decide in its absolute discretion shall benefit
from complimentary membership

Sport Support Services


Persons providing ancillary sport services directly to Scottish Gymnastics members within Scottish Gymnastics recognised environments who are not involved, in any capacity, in the direct delivery of gymnastics in any recognised environment through the coaching, instructing, judging or supervision of participants except for those holding accreditations below Level 1 assistant coach (or Scottish Gymnastics recognised equivalent) or accreditations below club judge.
Examples could be but are not limited to: choreographers and ballet teachers, strength & conditioning coaches, nutritionists and wellbeing practitioners, sports psychologists, physiotherapists and other regulated health service providers and medical practitioners.
