Sunday 29th May saw Daniel Cook, 2014 World Championship silver and World Cup gold medalist, travel to Irvine Bay GC to deliver 3 Scottish Gymnastics Acrobatic Development Camps.

With 3 separate sessions on offer (NDP Grades 1&2, NDP Grades 3&4 and NDP Grades 5&6/FIG partnerships), gymnasts attended in partnerships accompanied by their coaches with the aim of improving their skills.  Dan led very informative and engaging sessions where he shared the coaching philosophies that have ensured the club that he coaches at achieved gold medal success at the 2016 World Championships and a number of NDP British Champions earlier in the month.

He looked at all the key skills which need to be developed including basic body preparations, handstands and key individual elements.  Gymnasts were kept busy working and learning throughout the session, and coaches were provided with key messages to take away and apply to their planning and preparation for all gymnasts within their clubs.

Attended by 6 clubs across the sessions, the gymnasts and coaches came away from the day feeling invigorated and inspired to improve their gymnastics.  We look forward to having Dan back again in future.
