ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2019

The key resolution at this weekend's annual general meeting is a proposed change to the membership fees which affects every member of Scottish Gymnastics.

We need voting members to have their say at the AGM in Stirling on Sunday, or exercise their proxy vote before 1pm on Friday. Every club registered with Scottish Gymnastics is a voting member and has two votes each.

In 2015, when Scottish Gymnastics increased membership fees in line with British Gymnastics levels, it ensured that gymnastic participants across the UK were all paying the same level of fees. Earlier this year British Gymnastics applied an increase of £2 per member to individual fee levels.

Scottish Gymnastics agrees that an increase is required at this time, mainly due to rising insurance costs and the impact of inflation on our annual operating budget. However, we also recognise that the current membership period is effectively being reduced by one month. An increase in line with British Gymnastics will allow us to continue to provide the best support, products and services, also ensuring that all gymnastics participants across the UK, continue to pay membership at the same level.

The board’s proposal to the AGM is to increase fees to the same level as British Gymnastics, effective from 1st November 2019. This proposal will allow existing and new members the opportunity to renew before 1st November in advance of any potential fee increase, thereby providing some level of balance to the shortening of the last membership year.

We hope to see voting members at the AGM on Sunday at 1pm in the Stirling Court Hotel, University of Stirling. Alternatively, you can still exercise your vote by submitting a proxy notice which essentially appoints someone who will be at the meeting to place your vote as instructed.

You can find the resolutions, reply slip and how to proxy vote on our dedicated AGM page.

We look forward to hearing from member clubs and seeing you on Sunday.
