Two coaches have been appointed to lead the gymnast preparation and games time delivery for artistic gymnasts in Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Sandra Stevenson and Marius Gherman will lead the women’s and men’s disciplines respectively. They have played a part in previous Games campaigns, both as personal coaches of gymnasts representing Scotland, but also part of the Team coaching staff in Glasgow 2014.
Sandra is the High Performance Gymnastics Coach for Glasgow School of Sport, and Marius is the Head Men’s Coach at City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club. They will work alongside the respective Scottish Gymnastics National Technical Advisors, Claire Starkey (WAG) and Paul Hall MBE (National Technical Advisor), as well as Jamie Bowie, who is Team Manager and SG Performance Manager, the SG Performance department, and personal coaches to support gymnasts in maximising their performance potential to achieve selection.
Both Sandra and Marius will be visible at all training camps between now and the Games and will work collaboratively with all involved to support the best possible outcome for Team Scotland.
A rhythmic coach will be recruited on confirmation of gymnasts achieving the selection standards outlined in the selection policy.
