Scottish Gymnastics Chief Executive Euan Lowe is leaving Scottish Gymnastics to join another leading sporting body.
He has today been announced as the next Chief Executive Officer of Scottish Swimming and will take up his new role in June.
Euan took over as CEO of Scottish Gymnastics in 2014 and has led the organisation through an important period at the start of its ambitious 12-year strategy. With the expertise and guidance from staff, and the support of passionate people in member clubs, he has helped strengthen the sport in this country, with membership rising from 17,500 to over 30,000, and annual turnover growing to £2.2m.
Euan said: “This was not an easy decision for me, but it is an incredible opportunity to work with another leading sporting body which I could not miss.
“I feel privileged to have had a part in the growth of gymnastics in Scotland with a hard-working team of staff, board and dedicated volunteers. For me, a sport is all about its clubs and the people involved, and I’d like to thank everyone for the past four and a half years, and wish you continued success.”
Scott Harper, Chair of the Scottish Gymnastics Board, said: “I would like to thank Euan for his tremendous contribution to Scottish Gymnastics. He was appointed at a critical time for gymnastics in Scotland and was tasked with putting our long-term vision for the sport into action.
“He has led the organisation through the first phase of our ambitious plans, and with his team, established a strong platform from which to deliver our 12 year-strategy. We look forward to that work continuing with Euan’s successor, building on these foundations, to deliver our objectives on behalf of our members.”
Speaking about Euan’s new role, Graeme Marchbank, Chair of the Scottish Swimming Board, said: “Euan has demonstrated the leadership, experiences and qualities that Scottish Swimming requires to ensure it continues to develop excellence in all areas of our work. He also has the vision and innovation to develop and implement Scottish Swimming’s next strategic plan, which will run from 2021.
“With a clear understanding of governing bodies I believe that Euan has the right set of skills and experience to lead the organisation into and through its next exciting period of development, and I am delighted to welcome him to the team on behalf of the Scottish Swimming staff, board and council.”
