DOUBLE TEAM GOLD AT 2016 ARTISTIC CELTIC CUP

Scottish gymnasts returned from the 2016 Artistic Celtic Cup with a medal haul including team gold for both the women's artistic minor and junior teams, and team silver for the men's artistic minor team.

The battle of the Celtic nations was held in Douglas, Isle of Man, on Saturday 23rd April 2016. Hot on the heels of Scottish domination at the Acrobatic Celtic Cup just one week prior, our artistic gymnasts were aiming to bring home yet more silverware.

In the women's artistic minor competition, Scotland secured the 2016 title ahead of Ireland (silver) and Isle of Man (bronze). Kacey Morrison (Largs) scored 46.850 to lead not only the Scottish team but the rest of her competitors, earning her the 2016 all-around title. Team and club mate Anna Hollins made her way to the podium in bronze position with a score of 44.150. The minor men's artistic title was taken by Wales, with Scotland in silver medal position ahead of Ireland. Rory Smith, from Lasswade GC, was crowned all-around champion with a score of 70.950.

History was repeated in the women's artistic junior event, with Team Scotland winning the title ahead of Ireland (silver) and Isle of Man (bronze). Isla Warr (Park Wrekin) was the highest scoring Scottish gymnast, a score of 48.250 was enough to take the bronze medal. With only two gymnasts entered in to the junior men's artistic competition a fourth team medal wasn't to be, however Adam Logan (City of Glasgow) and Cameron Lister (Pipers Vale) both competed strongly against tough opposition, finishing 5th and 8th respectively all-around.
