GDPR TRAINING AND SUPPORT

As you know, we are working hard to implement the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the legislation which is replacing the Data Protection Act 1998. We have previously let you know how the changes will impact our club and member community.

We recently sent your club a combined informative booklet which explained both the GDPR in detail and the new membership process we must introduce and launch this October. You can also access this information as separate PDF files in the 'About the GDPR' and 'New membership process' sections of GymNET.

We have also created a support package we are offering our member clubs. It's designed to help you fully understand the GDPR and ensure you are confident about how our new membership system will work, as well as how your club can benefit from it. These opportunities are free of charge to our member clubs and include:

•  GDPR Awareness e-learning course
Accessible via the British Gymnastics Academy, this online course will provide a basic level of understanding and awareness relating to the GDPR, the six data protection principles, your responsibilities as data controllers and processors and what this means to the processes in your club. This e-learning course is suitable for all members of your team to help raise awareness of the GDPR and the implications for your club.

•  Online webinars, hosted by our GDPR team
For those who are new to webinars, these are simply presentations and meetings conducted over the internet via your computer, tablet or smart phone. They are hosted by one of our team and allow you to access relevant documents and presentations as well as interact with the host. Our webinars give you access to experts without having to travel. These webinars are more in-depth and aimed at your management and administration team members, or those involved in the collection and management of personal data in your club. Please complete the e-learning course above before participating in the webinars.

If after completing the eLearning and watching the online webinars, you have any queries we are also running workshops across Scotland.

Regional workshops

Hosted by our GDPR team on the ground, these face-to-face interactive sessions will take place around the country. They will help you to better understand the regulation and how to practically apply the GDPR requirements in your club. There will also be lots of opportunities to ask questions and explore the new membership system.

These workshops, which you need to book in advance, are more in-depth and aimed at your management and administration team members, or those involved in the collection and management of personal data in your club.
