Twelve young people have been selected to form the first ever Scottish Gymnastics Youth Forum.

The group will represent the voice of children and young people in gymnastics in Scotland and meet with Scottish Gymnastics staff to give their views on specific topics. The members are aged between 10 and 24, are gymnasts and coaches from across disciplines, and include a Commonwealth Games gymnast and a Special Olympian.

The young people were invited to join the panel after a recruitment session where they had one-to-one interviews and a group task, in which they discussed then presented their ideas on how to improve gymnastics in Scotland to the selection panel of staff and board members.

The morning’s session was really inspiring and the applicants were overflowing with great chat and ideas, and the Scottish Gymnastics team is now looking forward to listening to more of their views.  During the first year, they will meet four times to discuss participation, safeguarding, events, and coaching.

Congratulations to our forum members and we look forward meeting up and working with you!
