HIGH FIVE FOR ACRO TEAM AT CELTIC CUP

Scotland has won the Acrobatic Celtic Cup for the fifth year in succession.

The 58-strong Scotland team came from eight clubs, with gymnasts aged eight to 20 years old. The team event was held in Cardiff over six sessions at the different grades, with Scotland winning five of the six sessions.

"The Scotland delegation was led by Andy Youl who is also chair of the Acro Technical Panel and works tirelessly in gymnastics. He said:

“I was very proud and pleased with the gymnasts. Their behaviour was phenomenal. They are all great ambassadors for the sport and their clubs and I have a huge respect for them. I would like to thank team manager Fiona and all the coaches who helped keep the gymnasts safe from when we met up at Central Station until we returned Sunday night.

"A big thank you also to Ian Said, our head coach and technical expert. His help and advice on the Performance Pathway Programme and over the weekend at the event has been absolutely phenomenal.

"Performances like this are a good compass for us, to see where we are and it gives us a certain level of confidence at representative level. It makes us feel like a team and part of a winning team helps us going forward."
