JUDGING COURSE UPDATE

Many of the clubs, coaches & judges will be aware that there has been difficulty in trying to source suitable and qualified judges for competitions for a number of disciplines. The Education team therefore want to proactively communicate the existing challenges and steps we are working towards with regards to planning and delivering Judging courses.

We recognise that judging is a critical enabler to the growth and success of gymnastics at all levels of the gymnastics pathway. SG in is the process of forming a Judging Strategy aligned with our 12 year strategic plan (2015 - 2027). When launched, the strategy will focus on the growing the number of officials, enhancing the current workforce and maintaining the high standards expected across all disciplines and levels of the pathway.

At present, SG face the challenge to deliver any courses for specific disciplines primarily due to a delay in the new judging resources that are being created in partnership with British Gymnastics. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to organise of deliver any courses until they are ready.

To date, the following resources have been approved by British Gymnastics for delivery:

Acro

Floor and Vault

MAG

Rhythmic

Trampoline

WAG

Revalidation, Club

Level 1

Club, Regional, National

Revalidation, Club

Revalidation, Club

Club, Regional

Working in partnership with British Gymnastic including the National Judging Panel (NJP), once these resource have been finalised and distributed, Scottish Gymnastics will be in a position to deliver Judge courses for the remaining disciplines.

We are working closely with the technical panel judging officers and via a Health Check process introduced in April this year to ensure a plan is in place for Judge Education across all our disciplines.

The Education team would welcome any intelligence on the demand of courses to ensure direct communications can be made available once the course is ready for roll out. Please contact coacheducation@scottishgymnastics.org
