MAGNIFICENT SEVEN SELECTED FOR GB DMT

Seven Scottish Gymnastics members will represent GB at the Loulé Cup 2017 which takes place in Portugal from 4 to 8 October.

Four gymnasts have been selected in Double-Mini Trampoline, three of whom will make up three quarters of the senior women’s team. The 2016 Senior Ladies Scottish Champion Ciara Donlevy and runner-up Caitlin O’Brien from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club will team up with Kim Beattie from Banchory Trampoline and DMT Club who won the DMT Fig 17-18 years female title at the national championships. This is Kim's first senior selection and Caitlin was previously selected for the Cup but unable to attend, while Ciara was part of the three-women team who won team gold in 2015.

Fraser McLeod from Two Foot Higher, who was first in the DMT FIG 13-14 years at last year’s national championship, will compete in the junior men’s DMT competition.

Lauren Jeffrey from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club has been selected as GB squad coach, while Glasgow Trampoline Club’s Brian Scott and Bruce Craig (Two Foot Higher TC) will be judges at the Cup.

The GB trampoline, DMT and tumbling delegation is headed by John Beeton, who received a lifetime achievement award at the 2016 Scottish Gymnastics Awards.

Speaking after the team announcement, Lauren Jeffrey said: “This is a fantastic achievement to have such a large Scottish contingency representing Great Britain in DMT, and from the increasing participation numbers in Scottish domestic competitions, I hope this will continue to grow.

“The sport is going from strength-to-strength with four Scottish gymnasts selected for the Loulé GB team and I am delighted to have been appointed as a GB coach for this event. I am enjoying continuing again in my third year as a GB DMT squad coach and looking forward to my new role as a DMT tutor. Exciting times ahead for Scottish DMT, building on the fantastic results again at this year's British Regional Team finals where our team retained their overall DMT Champion Team title out of the 12 British regions!”

Congratulations to you all on your selection!
