MEDALS GALORE AT 2019 DISABILITY BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Eleven Scottish gymnasts brought home a total of  41 medals from the 2019 Disability Artistic British Championships in Leicester on Sunday 6 October.

Orianne Slater from Garioch Gymnastics Club successfully defended her British title with her all-around score of 48.400 earning the gold medal. Her performances also saw her win gold on beam and silver medals on vault, bars and floor.

City of Glasgow gymnast and youth forum member, Alistair Kemley, performed well to win silver medals on the pommel horse and high bar and a bronze medal on the parallel bars. His club-mate Declan Pass, who was competing for the first time as a senior and in the open class, won bronze medals on the floor and on pommel horse, earning a fourth place all-around finish.

Andrew MacIntyre won gold in the all-around senior A competition, also winning gold in the high bar and bronze medals on floor, pommel horse, rings and vault.

In the junior A competition, Craig McGarity earned silver in the all-around, with gold medals on floor and pommel horse, silver on rings and parallel bars, and bronze on the high bar. In the same junior category, Holly Lench won silver on bars and won bronze medals on beam and all-around. Emma Thomson did well to win a gold medal on bars.

Gymnasts in competition B also performed well with Emily McAlpine earning the junior all-around title, with gold medals on vault, bars and beam and a silver medal on the floor. Another junior gymnast, Jack Bothwell, won three bronze medals, in the all-around event, on pommel and floor.

Senior Chiara Astley also won all-around bronze, earning the same medal on vault. In the under 12 class, Ella Morton performed well to earn a silver medals on all four pieces of apparatus as well as all-around.
