Nine selected to new Trampoline programme

Scottish Gymnastics is delighted to announce the launch of a new Trampoline Performance Pathway Programme (PPP) with British Gymnastics Pathway Coach, Gary Short, providing the technical leadership.

The programme which is supported by the Scottish Gymnastics Trampoline Technical Panel is centred around developing coaches and gymnasts in the performance pathway and increasing the number of Scottish gymnasts qualifying for British Championships.

The programme is based on a culture of hard work, continuous improvement, taking ownership and embracing challenge. The programme will be run through a series of training camps for coaches and gymnasts with an international representative event targeted as part of the programme.

The first wave of selections for the programme are being announced following a joint profiling day with British Gymnastics at Lilleshall at the beginning of December. Gymnasts were invited to attend the profiling day following results across key competitions during the 2018 competition year, including British and Scottish Championships as well as British Regional Team Finals.

This first wave of selections will be complimented by a second access point for gymnasts in June 2019, for those competing in the FIG Pathway, FIG Development and NDP Levels 5 & 6.

Nine gymnast who attended the profiling day in December have been selected for the Scottish PPP, with a number of gymnasts also being considered for places on British Gymnastics programmes and squads. During the profiling day gymnasts and coaches were reviewed in their technical skills, physical preparation and performance habits & training behaviours.

The programme will be supporting gymnasts, parents and coaches on the performance pathway through a curriculum for coaches, gymnasts and parents to provide education around physiotherapy, medical and nutrition.
