It is hard to believe we are almost at the end of 2017 already. It has been another fast-moving year for us all at Scottish Gymnastics, as this fantastic sport of ours continues to grow.

More people of all ages and abilities are joining clubs, more gymnasts are taking part in competitions, and we have increasing numbers reaching British squads and teams as well as winning medals at international events.

Gymfest continues to be one of our biggest events and in this year’s new location, Aberdeen, we welcomed teams from Shetland to Surrey.

Clubs, volunteers, coaches and officials are the real heart of our sport and it was a great pleasure to celebrate the contributions of many at the annual Scottish Gymnastics Awards in November. We hope you will nominate deserving winners from your club ahead of next year’s event on Saturday 10 November – save the date!

Before that however, we have plenty to look forward to in 2018, the Year of Young People, starting with the Scottish Artistic Championships on 24 and 25 February – tickets are now on sale! There’s the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April, and the European Artistic Championships in Glasgow.

The whole team at Scottish Gymnastics is looking forward to working for you in what looks like another bumper year for our sport.

We wish you a fun festive period, and a happy new year!
