With 2018 nearly over already, the pace in gymnastics growth isn’t letting up! We’ve enjoyed another bumper year for the sport in Scotland with more folks than ever enjoying all gymnastics has to offer, with hard working clubs and volunteers supporting more than 30,000 members – yes more than 30,000!
There was a bit going on in 2018, celebrating the Year of young people, another fantastic display of gymnastics for all with Gymfest in Aberdeen, the European Artistic Championship in Glasgow, the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and performances and medals aplenty across all disciplines in British and Scottish colours.
As ever the fantastic group of volunteers, the  ‘team behind the team’, has a huge role to play in supporting these performances: the parents, helpers, officials and coaches deserve to be applauded for all they do.
With 2019 almost here, there is plenty to look forward to with the competition calendar up and running quickly with the Acro Invitational in January, the Scottish TeamGym Championships and Artistic Championships in February.
We will also announce our new gymnastics apparel and leisure wear partners and a change to the start of the membership year, bringing it forward to 1 September to work better with the school holidays and gymnastics sessions.
We are always keen to hear from you and to make you aware of all these changes and opportunities in the sport and we’re looking forward to working with our new kit partners to make you aware of as many offers as possible.
The easiest way to keep up to date, is to make sure you receive Springboard, delivered straight to your inbox! And of course, if you’re a coach, official or club officer, there is always important news in Roundoff each month.
All you need to do is keep your membership details up to date and you can do that by logging in to your account in the members’ area. Head to your personal profile, click on preferences and tick the box to receive updates from Scottish Gymnastics.
The whole team at Scottish Gymnastics is looking forward to working with you and for our sport in 2019. We wish you a fun festive period, and a happy new year!
