STATEMENT ON COVID-19: NATIONAL EVENTS

In light of the guidance from the Scottish Government regarding events and the further updates provided this evening by both the Scottish and UK Governments, Scottish Gymnastics has taken the difficult decision to cancel all national events until the end of June. 

This is a difficult decision however, in these uncertain times we hope it will provide some certainty within the gymnastics community. The decision is in line with that of British Gymnastics who have also announced the cancellation of national events up to the end of June. A full list of the events impacted by this cancellation is below. 

We understand and share the disappointment of everyone involved and affected by this situation. However, our principal concern is the health and wellbeing of our gymnasts, their families, staff, volunteers, officials, coaches and supporters.

At this time the events have been listed as cancelled. However, we will be working with our technical panels and venues to see if it may be possible to reschedule some at a later date although this may not be possible. We will therefore be working to issue refunds of both gymnast entry fees and spectator tickets for the above events as soon as possible.

A further update will be issued tomorrow, Tuesday 17 March regarding additional Scottish Gymnastics activity including performance, education and safeguarding programmes and courses. We will also be issuing further advice for clubs.

In addition to this and in line with government guidance, the Scottish Gymnastics office will be transitioning to remote working. We therefore ask for the continued support and patience of our members as we make these changes over the coming days.
