More than 500 gymnasts took to the floor at the Acrobatic Invitational at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility last weekend with a number of Scottish partnerships winning medals.
Scottish partnerships were up against strong opposition from England and Northern Ireland which allowed them to see how well they could compete at British level, from grade 3 to Senior men’s and women’s.
Thirteen gold medals were won between Scottish partnerships from Sapphire, Dynamic, Acrobay, East Kilbride and City of Glasgow which is testament to the development of the sport in Scotland.
Scottish Gymnastics performance manager, Wendy Purdie, said: “It was great to see so many partnerships competing at this competition, showing the depth of talent across Scotland in Acrobatics. It has highlighted the progression that partnerships have made over the past year.
“This competition was used as a selection event for the performance programmes (NPP & PPP) and inaugural Home Nations Tournament.”
Gymnasts and coaches selected to represent Scotland at the Home Nations Tournament in April will be announced next month with those selected onto this year’s performance programmes shortly after.
Congratulations to all those who competed this weekend!
