Scottish Gymnastics would like to provide an update to our WAG clubs, coaches and parents in relation to the forward direction of our squad programme. Our new strategy, which was launched at the AGM on Sunday 31st August, highlights Scottish Gymnastics’ commitment over the next 12yrs to nurturing and developing ‘home grown, home coached’ talent across our disciplines. The new system which underpins this will be transitioned in over the coming months.
For existing members of all our current squads, access to squad training will be continuing with selected coaches until this new system moves into place; current squads include National Performance, National Potential and Development Squads. For avoidance of doubt, squad payments are essential to meet the overall facility access costs for all squads. This contributions does not cover payments for our coaches which is fully covered from our sportscotland investment.
Our activities moving forward need to compliment the long-term development of both gymnasts and coaches. As such, we will be taking a new approach to provide regional investment to support clubs, coaches and gymnasts to develop and progress within a pathway / performance development environment.
