Cycle 2025-28 Judging Qualification Information

January 2025 marks the start of a new Olympic cycle (2025-2028) and this cycle becoming a judge will become more accessible. We want to increase the number of judges across our community to support us achieving an uplifting gymnastic experience for everyone. We recognise the challenges faced by our community in accessing courses in a timely and convent format, and the investment of time already put in by many judges who hold qualifications from previous cycles.

Content is first written first by the national technical committees then developed into resources and courses by the British Gymnastics learning and development team. When a new course is released, we will contact all existing judges and clubs offering the relevant discipline to provide full details of the course launch. You will also find available courses on our What’s on Calendar.

Club, County and Regional Judging Qualifications. For club, county and regional levels, whether you are a new or existing judge, you will only be required to pass an assessment to become qualified. Assessments can be accessed and completed at a time that suits you, using the Academy. You will not have to attend a formal course of learning; instead, you can choose either to go directly to assessment or engage in some learning before taking your assessment. We recognise that learning can happen in many ways and want to empower individuals to make their own decisions regarding their journey to qualification, or revalidation. This learning could be completing your own directed study, getting mentoring from a more qualified judge, or attending workshops, seminars or courses organised by recognised and recommended people within your community.

National Judging Qualifications. For national level, you will still be required to attend a formal course and assessment as you have in previous cycles. There will be slight variations by discipline regarding how these are structured.

Are you an existing judge? If you are an existing judge, your qualification may still be valid in the early months of 2025 to allow you time to transition into the new cycle, whilst still enabling us to support our competitive programmes. More information regarding credential expiries will be sent directly to you.

Judging courses

Please note, you must work through the judging pathway from club through to national in order. If a discipline or course is not yet showing, it is because British Gymnastics are currently working with the technical committees to help produce the content.

Can’t find dates for the tutor-led courses you are looking for please complete the course interest form. This form will be used to inform us and British Gymnastics about the demand for additional courses.
