Rhythmic | Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games
Following the success of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, we are disappointed that rhythmic gymnastics will not feature in the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games, as the sport competition programme for the event has been announced by The Commonwealth Games Federation.
Louise Christie, who with her coach Amy Stewart, won Scotland’s first rhythmic silver medal at a Commonwealth Games with her imaginative ribbon routine, will not have the chance to build on their success in four years’ time, along with the next generation of aspiring gymnasts.
This is extremely disappointing for gymnasts and coaches across the UK, the rhythmic technical committee, and the wider rhythmic community in Commonwealth Games nations.
We are collaborating with British Gymnastics and Welsh Gymnastics to understand the impact on the future of the discipline in the Commonwealth Games. We are passionate, determined and motivated to continue to drive the discipline forward, securing a great future for everyone participating in rhythmic gymnastics in the UK.
