Scotland, Wales and England Become Home Nations Champions
Scotland, Wales and England all became Home Nations Champions on the first day of the inaugural Home Nations Tournament, which took place at Bells Sports Centre, Perth, today.
The tournament, which brought together acrobatic and artistic gymnasts, was the first of its kind with a focus on performance development.
Scotland became the Acrobatic Home Nations Champions on a final score of 264.80, Wales earnt silver medal position on 250.98 and Ireland in third (244.28) with the individual partnership finals decided tomorrow.
In the women’s competition the Home Nations Champions were the Welsh team of Meliyah Baker, Amelia Thomas, Gabrielle Williams, Ruby Evans and Layal Starkie (146.867) The Scotland A team of Crystelle Lake, Lauren McCormack, Kennedi Foster, Millie De O’Hara and Tillie Bee came in second place (143.000) with Ireland A in third (140.783). Notable performances from the Scottish teams were Crystelle Lake, who won a silver medal all-around in the junior competition (48.250) and Kennedi Foster who earnt bronze all-around in the espoir category (47.667)
England were crowned Home Nations Champions in the men’s artistic competition. Their team of Patrick Watkinson, Josh Porter, Scott Gordon-Menzies, Trumaine Brown, Harley Spann and Harry Hepworth scoring 293.017 to earn gold. Wales won the silver team medal on 291.150 and the Scottish team of Daniel Sabba, Cameron Lister, Rio Johnson, Cameron Lynn, Aidan Jordaan and Cameron Smith won the bronze medal on a final score of 282.167. In the U18 all-around competition Cameron Lister won gold on 73.050 with team-mate Aidan Jordaan winning the bronze medal on 69.583.
