Scottish Eligibility

Gymnasts wishing to claim Scottish eligibility in order to represent Scotland at future representative events and competitions must be able to satisfy the below criteria:

  • Current member of British Gymnastics (BG)

AND satisfy one of the following:

  • Gymnast was born in Scotland (birth certificate requried) OR
  • The gymnast has a parent who was born in Scotland (Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate required) OR
  • The gymnast has lived in Scotland for two (2) or more years

 

Please note the above criteria is for Scottish Gymnastics only and reflects the FIG regulations on eligibility. Gymnasts wishing to be considered for representing Scotland at a Commonwealth Games must be able to satisfy the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) regulations which are currently as follows (please check the CGF criteria for any changes):

  • Gymnast was born in Scotland (birth certificate requried) OR
  • The gymnast has a parent who was born in Scotland (Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate required) OR
  • The gymnast has lived in Scotland for five (5) or more years and has been granted British Citizenship (still subject to CGF approval) - continuous residency in Scotland will need to be evidenced
