Scottish Success at 2018 TeamGym Europeans
Eight Scottish gymnasts represented Great Britain at the 12th TeamGym European Championships in Odivelas, Portugal at the weekend against some of the best TeamGym countries.
Hamish Colgan (Saltire) was part of the senior mixed team who qualified in fifth place and equalled their qualifying performance to finish fifth in the final on 51.250 (floor 17.450, tumble track 17.100 and trampet 16.700)
Scotland was represented in the senior men’s team final by Dylan Campbell and Adam Souter from Saltire who also earnt fifth place. The senior men’s team bettered their score from qualifying (17.450 floor, 16.700 tumble track and 17.000 on trampet) and earnt a total score of 51.150.
Forth Valley’s Jordaan Dewar, Irvine Bay’s Jack Gibson and Saltire’s Fraser McLeod were in the junior mixed team who finished in fifth place too and narrowly missed out a medal. They finished less than one mark off a medal with a total score of 46.900 (floor 14.750, tumble track 16.250 trampet 15.900)
Carly McFadden (Saltire) was part of the women’s junior team who made the final and claimed sixth spot with scores of floor 19.050, tumble track 13.800 and trampet 15.800 for a combined of 48.650
Tracey Brown of Saltire coached the junior men’s team to forth place.
