TeamGym | New Scottish Champions Crowned for 2024
The 2024 Scottish National TeamGym Championships combined with the Out of Age Challenge levels to put on phenomenal performances at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell.
Saturday 25 May was full of action as 38 teams from across Scotland competed in the out of age challenge and Scottish national championships in TeamGym. Full TeamGym teams are made up of 6 to 12 gymnasts that compete in tumble, floor and trampet for their overall score to medal. Micro teams consist of 3 to 5 gymnasts, to gain their overall score they compete only on tumble and trampet.
In the TeamGym Championships Irvine Bay’s level 2 mixed team’s floor routine scored high with 15.9 helping them to earn the top spot. Saltire’s youth level 3 women’s team brought home gold but it didn’t stop there as their blue and white teams earned first and second place respectively in the primary level 4 competition also.
Forth Valley dominated across levels, their most notable achievement being the first ever disability entry for the championships and taking home gold as an integrated level 1 men’s team. Their second gold was earned by their youth level three mixed team. After missing out on the champion title last year to Fyrish in a thrilling tie-break decision, Forth Valley’s junior level 2 women’s team took the title for 2024.
Recently selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming 2024 European Championships, Evan Dewar competed for his club as part of a senior level 2 micro mixed team. Their runs gave them a final score of 26.7, a whole 4.1 marks ahead of second place.
Congratualtions to all of the gymnasts, coaches and clubs on their competitions and a round of applause to the champions and medalists!
