TeamGym | Performance Pathway Programme Gymnasts 2022
Scottish Gymnastics are pleased to announce the names of gymnasts who have been successfully selected onto the new Scottish Gymnastics TeamGym Performance Pathway Programme for 2022
Following an exciting profiling day which was held at Irvine Bay Gymnastics Club on 19 February – a total of 20 gymnasts have been selected onto the performance programme – with the first camps due to be held throughout 2022.
The Performance Pathway Programme (PPP) provides targeted support to develop individual gymnasts and their personal coaches that have the potential to progress into the elite pathway and to succeed in the Great Britain (GB) pathway. The programme is led by National Technical Lead, Chris Bennett with support from the newly appointed TeamGym Pathway Development Coaches.
Our performance programmes are based on a culture of providing a supportive environment for gymnasts across all disciplines to thrive, embrace challenges and overcome setbacks as well as taking ownership of their own training and development. Our approach is athlete centred, coach led, and performance driven – with wellbeing and coach development at the heart.
It's clear that there is a great potential for Scottish TeamGym gymnasts, building on recent medal success at the Northern Qualifier competition, as well as last year’s European TeamGym Championships in Guimareas where a team made up of junior men from Scottish clubs competed as part of the GB delegation as a second junior team.
The Scottish Gymnastics Performance Team said: “During the trial day, it was great to see the gymnasts showing their skills – and we’re really pleased to be offering this new pathway programme for TeamGym gymnasts and coaches.”
Jordan Dewar, one of the TeamGym PPP coaches said, “I’m looking forward to the potential opportunities for Scottish gymnasts in the future after they take part in the development camps as part of this programme. It will be great to use my experience and see gymnasts getting the chance to grow their skills”.
A huge congratulations to the selected gymnasts and their coaches, and we look forward to following their progress over the coming year. Visit the links at the bottom of this page for more information about our TeamGym performance programmes.
