Exciting opportunities to support Scottish Gymnastics events programme at both domestic and national level along with mass participation experiences. Our events programme runs from August to June each year and last year there were 32 events which saw 11,202 gymnasts take part across all disciplines.

To continue to deliver the ever-growing events programme, we are looking for people for key roles in a contract for service basis.

Event Managers – Experienced people that can be in charge of the event on the day.

You would take overall responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the event in line with the event proforma and programme schedule, Scottish Gymnastics risk assessment and other event related documents. Deliver all services in a professional and safe manner at all times during the event and be an ambassador for Scottish Gymnastics.

In partnership with the floor manager (if there is one at the event) lead on medal presentation ceremony for the event ensuring a professional and efficient process for all, recording how many medals were used for the event for reporting purposes. Manage and direct volunteers including judges for the event ensuring all know the roles they are carrying out and support in areas where there are no/lack of volunteers i.e., non-judging roles.

Be the key link for contractors and venue staff for the event ensuring a smooth and efficient event takes place. Ensure all signage/branding is put out as agreed prior to the event and ensure all is returned and be responsible for returning all equipment/signage to the events team post event ensuring any paperwork/logging is complete.

Event Announcers – Competent individuals that can speak on the microphone throughout the day and play a key role in engaging and entertaining the spectators.

You would clearly and confidently share details throughout the day of the event, who was competing and announcing any emergency procedures or safety protocols required prior to the event starting. If appropriate, you would familiarise yourself with the event announcers’ script to promote information included within it.

Throughout the day you would liaise with the floor manager and music coordinator on all matters relating to the competition and timings of announcements and follow the competition schedule.

Celebrate the success by announcing the awards during medal presentations.

Equipment Leads – Fully trained people in the set up and de rig of gymnastics equipment that can lead crew to set up the equipment for the events, ideally discipline specific.

You would lead a crew to ensure that the provision, quality, safety and storage of all sports equipment for the duration of the event meets the high standards required. You would need to ensure all health and safety requirements are met throughout in line with policies and Scottish Gymnastics risk assessment and appropriate personal protective equipment is worn throughout.

The set up would be as per the agreed floor plan on the field of play and in the warmup and/or training hall if required. You would need to liaise with venue management, logistics, technology partners, event managers, technical committee members and Scottish Gymnastics staff to ensure that other equipment is installed in harmony with that of the gymnastics apparatus.

A key part would include ensuring the quality and safety checks are made on all apparatus before handover to the specified event manager and/or floor manager. At the end of the event, you would dismantle and store all the gymnastics equipment in the appropriate manner.
