Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated gymnastics coach or aspiring programme leader to take the next step in their coaching journey by leading the development and delivery of WLGC’s preschool and recreational programmes.

The role can be shaped around the right candidate and is available as either full-time (combined preschool and recreational) or part-time (focusing on one area).

You’ll be responsible for supporting the planning, staffing, and delivery of the club’s largest participation streams, helping our team of coaches and young leaders to deliver engaging, progressive, and safe gymnastics sessions.

Full training, guidance, and mentoring will be provided to support the right candidate in developing the leadership and management skills needed to thrive in this role.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to competitive programmes, holiday camps, and club events depending on your experience and interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all recreational and preschool classes across WLGC
  • Support the design and delivery of engaging, progressive term plans and skill development frameworks
  • Create and introduce a new recreational pathway and rewards system to celebrate gymnast progress, effort, and achievement in a fun and inclusive way
  • Develop and implement a structured parent feedback system, strengthening communication and ensuring families feel informed and engaged in their gymnast’s journey
  • Work collaboratively with the coaching team to maintain high-quality, consistent sessions across all age groups
  • Assist with class timetables, staffing rotas, and session cover as required
  • Contribute to the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of coaches, young leaders, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with the Head Coaches (WAG & MAG) to align the recreational and competitive pathways
  • Work with the Head of Coaching & Club Development and the Head Coaching Team to expand participation opportunities — including developing ASN (Additional Support Needs) sessions and introducing new class types as the club continues to grow
  • Lead and support the planning and delivery of holiday camps, the annual club competition, and wider club events that promote participation, community, and fun
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment aligned with WLGC’s safeguarding policies

Requirements

Essential:

  • British Gymnastics Level 2 (or higher) in a relevant discipline
  • Experience coaching or assisting in recreational and/or preschool settings
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and a willingness to learn and lead
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and WLGC’s club values
  • Safeguarding qualifications

Desirable:

  • British Gymnastics Level 3 (or working towards)
  • Experience mentoring coaches or young leaders
  • Familiarity with Class4Kids or similar systems
  • First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications

Please send your CV and a short cover letting outlining your experience and preferred working pattern (full-time / part-time) to beckicampbell@westlothiangymnastics.org.
