Artistic | 2026 Scottish national champions crowned in Glasgow
Reuben Ward and Ellee Cheetham have been crowned the all-around champions at the 2026 Scottish National Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
For the first time ever, the sports hall of the Emirates Arena, Glasgow, hosted a Scottish gymnastics championship. The very room that will be used for warm up at the 2026 Commonwealth Games this summer – an opportunity that many in attendance seek Team Scotland selection criteria scores for.
Reuben Ward from Manchester Academy successfully retained the men’s senior champion title for the second year in a row. His winning streak continued into the finals day as he won all apparatus he qualified for; floor, pommel, p-bar and high bar.
In the women’s competition, Ellee Cheetham (City of Manchester) earned the women’s senior champion title. Recently out of retirement and her first ever Scottish championships, she came into the competition with little expectation and looking to simply enjoy returning to the sport. Adding to her gold medal, Ellee brought home silver on bars and vault respectively.
In the all-around competition across the other categories; the following gymnasts won gold in their respective levels:
Men’s
- Under 12 – Kruz Gebbie | Aberdeen
- Under 14 – Jared Tobias | City of Glasgow
- Under 16 – Ryan Nicholson | Hamilton
- Under 18 – Caiden-Jay Malone | Hamilton
- Disability category 1 junior – Connor Deafley | City of Glasgow
- Para disability junior – Harley Davis | City of Glasgow
- Para disability senior – Zachary Wood | City of Glasgow
Women’s
- Aspire – Olivia Murphy | Meadowbank
- Junior – Jessica Gow | Falcons
- Para disability junior – Darcey Ross | Arbroath
- Para disability senior – Monica Fisher | City of Glasgow
- Open disability senior – Lucie Mcrobbie | Central Academy
The teams competition had the following gymnasts and their club claim the gold medals and respective cup:
- Women’s – City of Glasgow | Abigail Cochrane, Ava Macfarlane, Eilidh Gorrell, Emily Shearer, Emily Spratt & Jaya Smith
- Men’s – Hamilton (A) | Aaron Gregory, Andrew Dickie, Caiden-Jay Malone, Ryan Nicholson & Tom Beattie
The men’s artistic judges awarded the Dave Scollon Artistry Award to Mitchell Cargill from City of Glasgow. They noted Mitchell’s gymnastics across the pieces as excellent in execution and overall artistry in his routines.
