Seven Scottish women’s artistic gymnasts continued to trail blaze the development of the Para Gymnastics pathway. They joined six other gymnasts from across the UK to showcase their routines, the first time this has been done with UK wide involvement. Gymnasts were specially selected to attend due to their disability classification type falling under any of the following: upper limb difference, lower limb difference or visual impairment.
- Arbroath | Darcey Ross
- City of Glasgow | Iona Timmons, Millie Sinnott, Monica Fisher, Scarlett Docherty-Lynass, Sophie Ireland and Zara Coote
Speaking to British Gymnastics following the trial event in Liverpool, City of Glasgow coach Amy Meiklem commented:
“The competition has been amazing. This is the first time many of the girls have competed on a podium at all and they really enjoyed the experience.”
Paragymnastics, for artistic only, was announced as an official discipline in October 2024 – the following month four Scottish gymnasts completed the world’s first ever trial of the women’s code in Norway. From here Scots have trialled the code at the 2025 Scottish National Artistic Gymnastics Championships and internationally again later the same year.
