Artistic | Reuben Ward successfully represents Great Britain at the 2026 Artistic World Championships
Reuben Ward made his Artistic World Championships debut representing Great Britain last week.
Great Britain’s men’s team was made up of Reuben Ward, Courtney Tulloch, Joe Fraser, Jake Jarman, Harry Hepworth and reserve Jonas Rushworth. They started the championships strong, qualifying in second to the men’s team final with their score of 251.460. They unfortunately had some minor errors among otherwise polished performances and scored a combined 247.395, finishing finals in fourth. Although a high placing, it was bittersweet as only the top three teams earned qualification to the next Olympics Games to be held in LA in 2028.
As the focus for Great Britain was the team event, Commonwealth all-around champion Reuben Ward did not compete on all six pieces. With it being only four gymnasts up and three scores count, individual strengths were focused on amongst the team. Reuben competed on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar in qualifications. The team final then used the three gymnasts up, all three scores count format. Competing in this format was a first for Reuben and he put out two consistent routines again on pommel horse and high bar.
Individually the Manchester Academy gymnast, Reuben placed himself ninth in the world on pommel horse. However, only top eight progress to finals leaving him in first reserve position.
Congratulations to Reuben and the Great Britain delegation on their incredible performances on the road to LA 2028.
