Acrobatic Trio Come Fourth at 2018 World Age Group Competition
Three acrobatic gymnasts from Fife have come fourth in the World Age Group Competitions in Belgium.
Erin Henderson, Sacha Muir, and Chloe Rowlands were representing Great Britain in the women’s 13 – 19 age category and were pipped to a podium place at the last gasp by the home nation.
The young, ambitious partnership from Acrobay Gymnastics Club in Rosyth has been together just over a year and have already earned a gold medal at the British championships.
Coached by Suzanne Fraser, they reached the World Age Group final in Antwerp and performed their routine beautifully to Nessun Dorma to earn 28.300. It put them in second place behind Portugal with two nations yet to come.
Israel was next and they just scraped ahead of the GB trio with 28.450 to guarantee their place on the podium and it was the host nation, Belgium who were last to compete. Whether or not they felt a home advantage, the Belgian team ended the competition with a big performance to earn a fraction higher, their 28.600 meaning GB finished fourth.
A fantastic achievement for Erin, Sacha, and Chloe who set their sights on representing GB at the Worlds after narrowly missing out European selection just a few months after they starting working together. Congratulations to them, Suzanne and Acrobay!
