Acrobatic | Acrobay Partnerships Selected for International Acro Cup
Two acrobatic partnerships from Acrobay have been selected to represent Great Britain at the International Acrobatic Cup in Rzeszow, Poland in June.
Following a strong performance at British Gymnastics acrobatic events in 2021, gymnasts Nephele Idahen and Daisy Campbell were recently selected as non-travelling reserves for the Acrobatic World Age Group Competition which will be held in Baku from 03-06 March.
As part of the selection, they were both automatically invited to compete at the International Acrobatic Cup – and following a second place finish at the recent Pat Wade Acrobatic Classic in the 12-18 women’s pair competition, they secured their spot on the GB team. They also went on to win the silver medal in the dynamic and combined overall competition at this year’s Spelthorne Acro Cup.
Competing alongside them at the event will be Acrobay teammates Grace Crawford and Ava Curtis who ensured their place in the team after winning the gold medal in the 11-16 women’s pair competition at the Pat Wade Classic.
Both partnerships were selected onto Scottish Gymnastics performance programmes last year, with Nephele and Daisy part of the National Performance Programme. Ava and Grace are part of the Performance Pathway Programme, and their recent success highlights the value of the training and support given from attending our camps.
The International Acrobatic Cup will take place between 28-29 May, with the age group competition taking place between 1 to 6 June and we look forward to following the gymnasts as they prepare to represent their club and country at the event. They will be joined by coach Suzanne Fraser who will be supporting the team.
Wendy Purdie, Scottish Gymnastics performance manager said:
This is a fantastic opportunity for the gymnasts to compete for the first time at an international competition. It will be a great chance to experience the atmosphere of the competition as part of a GB delegation.
We, along with everyone at Scottish Gymnastics will be supporting the partnerships at the event, and wish them all the best in their training.
