Commonwealth Games | Scotland nominates its gymnastics assistant coaches
Brett Ince and Jake Seager have been nominated as Scotland’s assistant artistic gymnastics coaches for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
They were chosen to be part of the artistic team after the appropriate recruitment and interview process. They are set to join Marius Gherman and Grace Lyman who have been appointed as men’s and women’s artistic lead coaches, respectively.
Marius and Grace conducted the interviews with Scott Hann (artistic director) and Jamie Bowie (gymnastics team manager for Glasgow). Scottish Gymnastics’ lead performance and pathway manager Kenny More chaired the panel.
They considered international experience and achievements, suitability and motivation for the role, and interview performance. Brett and Jake were chosen as the coaches most likely to help deliver the desired medal target. While the selections are to be formally approved by Commonwealth Games Scotland, we fully expect them to be supported.
Brett has coached at the last three Commonwealth Games and therefore brings his experience of this competition. He will assist Grace during the preparation phase and the Games period.
Jake is an enthusiastic and successful coach who is known to gymnasts in the men’s programme. He has impressed in leading the development of back-to-back Scottish men’s artistic champion, Reuben Ward. He will join Marius in working with the men’s team.
Artistic gymnastics features across the first five days of the Games, with medals to be won on each day. Limited tickets are still available for sessions between Friday 24 and Tuesday 28 July at The Arena.
