Glasgow 2026 | The fifth and final day of artistic gymnastics
Team Scotland’s Reuben Ward and Cameron Lynn compete for the final time at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
It’s been an outstanding five days of competition in The Arena for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. With Team Scotland’s gymnasts using the home crowd to their advantage. Reuben Ward and Cameron Lynn returned for the second day of apparatus finals; parallel bars and high bar. No medals earned in today’s competition for the Team Scotland gymnasts but still a day to remember for all.
Waiting game
Reuben returned to the competition podium first for the parallel bars final which he qualified in seventh to. Competing last in the group, the double Commonwealth medallist had to watch the other seven finalists perform before him.
Australia’s Jesse Moore headed the final, competing a short clear to handstand, quarter turn to the two bars mount. Going clean he earned himself a score of 14.000 exactly. Marios Georgiou from Cyprus qualified in second to this final and steps up second to the rails. He notably performs a tricky handstand while on a single bar with ease. Taking a wide step back on his landing, he scores himself 13.800.
Welsh Elliot Vernon incurs a deduction as he sits down when landing his dismount. A costly error as the judges take a full mark, leaving him with 12.700. Silver medalist on rings, William Emard (CAN), concluded the first half of these gymnasts. An unsteady start, with unwanted hand movments, but makes it through with no other major faults. Earning a score of 13.200.
The rampant lion – Reuben Ward
Second half of warmups take place with Felix Dolci kicking things off again. Making this the fifth out of six finals he’ll compete in here in Glasgow. Showing strong skill as he competes an under somersault with a half turn to underarm within his routine. Ending on a double front somersault with a half turn, gaining him a 0.1 stick bonus, to put him in third with 13.300.
England’s Adam Tobin and Alexander Yolshin-Cash suffer errors in their routines finishing with 13.033 and 12.700 respectively. Their scores placing out of the medals guarantees Aussie Jesse Moore and Cypriot Marios Georgiou a medal – but which colour?
Team Scotland’s Reuben Ward is last, but not least, to take to the apparatus. Keeping the routine difficulty of 4.8 from day one qualifiers and all-around final. The Scottish crowd’s cheers echo through The Arena once again, as he steps onto the springboard. A secure routine with some minor errors and a loose form in a handstand causes him a step back with his hand to remain on. Making it through the landing and presenting for the final time at his debut Games – the crowd roar for Reuben. Sweeping his hands up into the air to the audience on the left and again on the right to keep the noise coming. 13.166, places the all-around champion in fifth on parallel bars.

Captain Cameron
Aussie Ritam Malik opened the ultimate final for artistic gymnastics at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games – the high bar. Alexander Istock (NZL) goes into a forward giant by mistake and has to make a split decision. Attempting to turn himself around, Alexander misses his hand, dismounting the piece. Catching his legs as he goes under the bar in a piked stalder, falling again. The pair score 12.833 and 8.200, well under the top ten qualifiers scores.
Attention then turned to Cameron Lynn who earned the bronze medal on pommel only the following evening. While waiting for the judges’ signal, teammates Hamish Carter, Reuben Ward and Connor Sullivan were shown on the big screen. Entertaining the crowd with funny faces and supportive cheers before Cameron begins. Opening with that audience wowing, Zou Li Min (single arm giant with a full twist) he sets the tone for the remainder of the routine. The thrilling release elements, a Kolman (double back somersault with a full twist) and a Kovacs (double back somersault), keep the fans in the stands applauding.
Winding up into the double straight, double twisting dismount, Cameron finishes his second Commonwealth Games with pride. The team in the second row are on their feet, wearing their Team Scotland kilts, celebrating as the score comes in – 13.133 moving him into first.
Cameron shows support for fellow home nations representative Alexander Niscovenu from Wales following. An error in his release element lands him flat on his back to the mats. Dusting himself off, he remounts, to finish with 11.666 putting him in fourth. At the halfway point the table stood:

High stakes
An unusual fall projected William Emard (CAN) from the apparatus. With the timer ticking, he runs out of the field of play towards the back gym. Adam Cox (Team Scotland 2002, 2006 & 2014 gymnast) announced that William’s handguard had snapped. However, he would be allowed to restart and compete again at the end of the pool. William’s national teammate Felix Dolci puts out four release elements amongst others to finish with a double twisting, double somersault dismount. With the highest difficulty score in this final, 5.8 and an execution of 8.433, he places himself number one.
England’s Alexander Yolshin moves Cameron down into third place as his routine produces a score of 13.233. The Scot further moved out of the medals as Marios Georgiou puts out a strong routine. The Cypriot perfoming an advanced G rated Cassina (a straight double back somersault with a full twist over the bar). Scoring him scoring 14.666 and moving into second.
Putting his hand up to the judges again, William Emard restart’s his routine and makes it safely through this time. Sending himself into the air, completing a back out, double twist to stick. 13.566 places him in the bronze medal position with Scotland’s Cameron Lynn finishing in fifth on the high bar.

While the medal presentations are being prepared, Team Scotland’s men’s artistic team chat to presenters Danusia Franceis and Mercy Abel by the stage. They each complimented the phenomenal support of the crowd throughout the five days of competition and thanked them for making their home Games truly special. Soon after bursting into a chant of no Scotland, no party!
