Gold for Caitlin at World Age Group DMT Competition
Caitlin O’Brien has won gold at the 25th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The 19 year-old from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club won the double mini trampoline 17 – 21 women’s category after topping group one in qualifying on Friday 17 November. Only Canadian Alexandra Forest and Carina Hagarty from Australia, both in group two, scored higher than her 66.600 in the first two rounds.
However, when it came to the final later in the day, Caitlin rose to the occasion, her score of 64.800 enough to beat off any competition and secure the gold medal.
The previous day, Fraser McLeod was also in action for the GB team in the 15-16 boy’s double mini trampoline. The Two Foot Higher gymnast qualified for the final from a field of 38, and finished in a commendable sixth position in his first World Age Group Competition.
Congratulations to Caitlin and Fraser and their coaches for their achievements!
