Kim Strikes Silver in Sofia
Kim Beattie has won a GB team silver medal in double mini trampoline at the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The 19 year-old from Banchory Trampoline and DMT Club and team mates Kirsty Way, Phoebe Williams and Bethany Willliams earned a combined total of 102.200. It put them in second place behind the Russian Federation (104.900) but only after a dramatic judging review confirmed the final standings. Kim’s team mate, Phoebe, was judged to have hit the side of the DMT and initially scored 0.00. After British Gymnastics asked for review of Phoebe’s score, her pass was then scored as legal which resulted in the British women taking the silver medal.
In the individual competition, Kim placed 14th out of 29 in her first senior world championships.
The 32nd world championships are followed this week by the 25th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions.
Representing Great Britain in DMT from Scotland are Caitlin O’Brien from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club in the 17 – 21 girls group, and Fraser McLeod from Two Foot Higher in the 15 – 16 boys event.
We wish them every success, and our congratulations to Kim and her coaches on her world silver!
