Medals at 2018 Acrobatic British Championships
Three Scottish partnerships have won medals at the Acrobatic Gymnastics British Championships this weekend.
Erin Henderson, Sacha Muir and Chloe Rowlands from Acrobay Gymnastics club won gold in the women’s group 13 – 19 years final. Their score of 28.050 saw them go one better than their silver podium position in the 2017 championships, the same year they were finalists for the Scottish Gymnastics Young Gymnast of the Year award.
Their fellow Acrobay gymnasts Rebecca Stewart, Ellie Hortsmann and Scarlett Haldane continued the success for the Rosyth club with a bronze medal in the women’s group 12 – 18 years.
There was also bronze success for City of Glasgow’s David Arendarik & Tia Kidd in the mixed pair 12 – 18 years.
The event at Fenton Manor Sports Complex was also part of the trial process for partnerships aiming to make the Great Britain team for the forthcoming World Championships and World Age-Group competitions.
Chair of the Acro Technical Panel, Andy Youl, was delighted to see their success. He said: “Congratulations to all the medallists and their coaches who deserved their medals. The Acrobay performances were both fantastic, and David and Tia’s routine was full of emotion.
“Many partnerships from Scotland really did themselves, their coaches and their clubs proud throughout the championships.”
Congratulations to the medallists!
The acrobatic action continues next month with the Scottish National NDP Championships and Team Competition at Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth on Saturday 3 March, with the FIG Championships at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Saturday 21 April.
