Men’s Artistic | Performance Programme Gymnasts Announced for 2022-23
Scottish Gymnastics has announced the 36 gymnasts selected onto men’s artistic performance programmes for 2022-23, with the first camps due to take place in the new year.
The aim of the performance pathway programmes, both NPP and PPP for men’s artistic gymnastics is to support coaches and gymnasts in developing the skills that will allow them to succeed onto the Great Britain pathway. The programmes aim to expand and sustain the talent pool in men’s artistic through a calendar of camps, delivered by expert coaches.
Our performance programmes are based on a culture of providing a supportive environment for gymnasts across all disciplines to thrive, embrace challenges and overcome setbacks as well as taking ownership of their own training and development. Our approach is athlete centred, coach led and performance driven – with wellbeing and coach development at the heart.
With significant interest in the artistic programmes over the last couple of years, gymnasts were selected onto the programme following an experience day where gymnasts had the opportunity to showcase the brilliant basics, and skills they are looking to develop.
It has been an exciting year for artistic gymnastics, coming off the back of a successful commonwealth games in Birmingham in which many of the gymnasts making the team had progressed through our performance programmes, and a team silver at the recent Northern European Championships in Finland.
The National Performance Programme is led by Scott Hann MBE with support from Marius Gherman and the Regional Pathway Development Coaches. Matt Jackson continues to lead the Performance Pathway Programme.
This year sees the addition of hybrid selections, where it is hoped that the gymnasts selected in this way will have a smooth transition from their position on the PPP to the NPP, allowing them to participate in the camps alongside those re-selected onto this programme.
Congratulations to the following gymnasts and their coaches for their selection to the programmes.
